Facial Veins & Rosacea Treatment

Small veins and fine vein networks, usually on the face, nose and cheeks, can easily be removed or reduced with a series of IPL (intense pulse light) treatments or the NdYAG laser can be used to eradicate red and thread veins. For rosacea and flushing cheeks, the same IPL method is used to reduce both the redness and reduce the frequency and severity of facial flushing.

Red veins and facial flushing can make people feel very self-conscious, especially when it’s on prominent areas of the face such as the front of the nose and cheeks. Sometimes it may seem no amount of concealer is covering them up. And especially for you guys, who wants to be messing about with concealer?!

Most People commonly report that their redness and flushing is very much reduced after just one or two treatments, and when it does occur, doesn’t last as long. This is a relief for you if you have had to put up with embarrassing red cheeks from even the slightest trigger.

The skin will look healthier, clearer, and calm.

Most people after IPL or laser treatment say they find they need less or no makeup! Skin looks and feels smoother and clearer. The results of the treatment are usually very long lasting.

How the treatment works?

There are a few different methods we can use to treat the veins, face flushing and other types of vascular lesions such as Cherry Spots. These methods include:

  • IPL – Intense Pulsed light. We use the Viora V20 system with green and yellow light that is most efficient at heating fine superficial capillary networks and rosacea. The IPL is suitable when we need to treat all the skin surface area. The IPL also has a skin conditioning or collagen plumping effect, so can improve the appearance of fine lines at the same time.
  • Laser – NdYAG laser with a very small beam can be used to trace over individual veins. This way, the surrounding skin does not need to be exposed to the treatment, and is useful if we just want to target specific vascular areas.

For this we use the Cynosure Elite laser, a trusted American made laser used for many years in the industry.

  • Traditional cautery using diathermy, a bit like the Veinwave system. A fine probe is used to target and trace along the vascular areas to close up the vessels. We use this method when the laser or IPL is not suitable, such as darker skin types, or if we are working close to the eyes.

The therapists using the IPL and lasers are highly trained and experienced to know exactly how and when to make these adjustments, so your treatment is fully optimised.

Rosacea, red sensitive skin, is a systemic problem and is usually genetic. Laser/IPL treatment can resolve or reduce symptoms for a long period of time, but over time, the condition may progress and require more treatment.

The skin will be warmed during treatment and may feel hot and red for a few hours afterwards. Sometimes some mild bruising can occur that will resolve over a few days and, in fact, helps the clearing of the vessels.
